Thoughts for the week May 15

Life is so busy and never seems to slow down for anybody. With all of the hustle and bustle, it can be easy to get overwhelmed.  Being a spouse, a parent, an employee, and all of the other things we are supposed to be can cause us to not become dazed and confused.  I remember when I was in Seminary I would get so stressed out over all of the obligations I had.  Deadlines for homework, family events, projects, and honey-do's and just at that moment I was about to crack and lose every last bit of sanity I was clinging to, Emily would look me in the eye and, in the gracious loving way only she can say it, tell me to CHILL OUT!  She prompted me to look back over time and see how God had always worked things out.  The process of becoming more like Christ (Sanctification) can be overwhelming at times and we need to be reminded to chill out.  Colossians 3:1-2 and Matthew 6:33 remind us about keeping things in perspective and how to accomplish all of those things we have on our to-do list.  He who began a good work in you, He will be faithful to complete it.  If life is overwhelming you, remeber, Rome wasn't built in a day and the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.
